Why are we using AR300M16 (LibreCMC) instead of WDN750?

Hi everyone.

Could you please tell me why we are using the GL.iNet AR300M16 (LibreCMC) instead of the Western Digital WDN750?

If we consider the connection scheme as: NanoPi R4S + AR300M16 (Wi-Fi antenna), then the best solution would be:

NanoPi R4S + WDN750, because the WDN750 has gigabit ports and also the AR9380 (5 GHz) which supports ath9k!!!

Even if the user is using WireGuard and other modern protocols, the data transfer speed would be 3-4 times higher than with the AR300M16.

You can install OpenWRT right now.

Another model is more compact (D-Link DIR-835 A1 ), with the same features as the Western Digital WDN750

Super, these models are on the LibreCMC website:

D-Link DIR-835 A1 => https://librecmc.org/librecmc/downloads/snapshots/v6.9/targets/ath79/generic/librecmc-ath79-generic-dlink_dir-835-a1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

Western Digital WDN750 => https://librecmc.org/librecmc/downloads/snapshots/v6.9/targets/ath79/generic/librecmc-ath79-generic-wd_mynet-n750-squashfs-factory.bin

Here on the forum, except for my post, there is no mention of these models and high speeds...

I see a lot of recommendations for the Netgear router WNDR3800 about 30 messages, but not a single recommendation about these routers that are faster than the "Thinkpenguin" AR300M16 (TPE-R1300), as well as Netgear WNDR3800.

Who's "we"? This seems a conversation that's targeted to what hardware libreCMC does (or doesn't) support and is probably better in those channels: https://librecmc.org/contact.html

Hi Jason,
I didn't express myself very clearly—my apologies. What I meant was that
the router models I mentioned are a better option than the Netgear WNDR3800 or the “Thinkpenguin” AR300M16 (TPE-R1300) travel router, which are often mentioned on the forum.

Even if we don’t consider the AR9380 chip, 3×3 MIMO, and 450 Mbps, the MIPS 24Kc core (WNDR3800) is less powerful than the 74Kc core (WDN750).
The MIPS 74Kc is a significantly more modern and powerful core than the MIPS 24Kc.
