Didn't watch the video but I was a student at MIT (not in the media lab) during the whole Epstein thing. One of my professors (a pretty famous one) had taken research funding from Epstein and spent half a lecture at the beginning of the course apologizing for his connection with Epstein.
I didn't think much about it, but this year it came out that one of his research associates (who had come out of nowhere, without any formal education in the subject) was in the Epstein files and had sent an email to Epstein referencing "island orgies."
As for RMS, I think his words were misinterpreted and I don't think he had any bad intentions. Note also that he is widely believed to have autism. However, 2019 was the height of cancel culture and so he was quickly pushed out.
He resigned. That's not cancellation.
He wasn't canceled only because thousands of us signed our real names to letters supporting him and would not allow him to be canceled. But there were many within "open source" communities and IBM-funded projects who had their knives out for him. The Gnome community was especially nasty about it if I recall correctly.
